Scientists now point to the inevitability of a severe earthquake along the San Andreas fault in the near future, and recently it has become evident that the movement of the Pacific plate will not only have dire consequences for the state of California, but at its western end, the Pacific plate runs through New Zealand, Australia and northwards to Japan. Many scientists now agree that the Californian earthquake when it comes, will not only wreak havoc along America’s west coast but would have a disastrous effect in New Zealand and would hit Japan with such force that the islands of Honshu and Hokkaido would be totally devastated.
